e-Books are purchased by CQU library to support courses offered by the University and access to these titles is available by

There are also a number of freely available e-Book sites on the web. Some of these are listed as well for your information.

PLEASE NOTE: e-Books purchased by CQU Library can be accessed by CQU staff and students only. Refer to the Passwords page if you are experiencing problems accessing e-Books.

e-Books are accessible online 24 hours a day (subject to scheduled web-site maintenance downtime by publishers)

Searching e-Books in the Library Catalogue

Some e-Book titles purchased by CQU Library are available through the library catalogue.

By title

You can search the Library Catalogue for a specific title, and if it is available as an e-Book, then a View Online Here tab will appear at the top of the record.

By subject

If you want to know what electronic books are available in your subject area eg. business follow these steps:

 

1. From the Library Catalogue, under Search by Collection, click on Books.

2. Type electronic resource in the first search box and select Title from the drop down menu.

3. Type in your subject in the second (and third, if required) search box and click on Search.

The reference section includes Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, and Grocott's Quotations.

Bloomsbury Research Centre

The Bloomsbury Research centre is a on-line database of reference books.

Search a wide range of subjects including literature, art, myth, human thought, quotations and a thesaurus.

Complete works of William Shakespeare

This site provides a web edition of the Complete Works of William Shakespeare.

Internet Public Library Books

The IPL Online Texts Collection contains links to a range of sites with online books. Mainly literature.

National Academies Press

NAP publishes over 200 books a year on a wide range of topics in science, engineering, and health, capturing the most authoritative views on important issues in science and health policy.

On-Line Books Page

A directory of books that can be freely read right on the Internet.

Project Gutenberg

It provides access (full-text) to more than six thousand classic works and more than 100 Australian titles.

Project Gutenberg of Australia

The Project Gutenberg Library of Australiana - Australian writers, works about Australia and works which may be of interest to Australians.

University of Virginia Electronic Text Center

The Electronic Text Center's holdings include approximately 51,000 on- and off-line humanities texts in twelve languages, with more than 350,000 related images (book illustrations, covers, manuscripts, newspaper pages, page images of Special Collections books, museum objects, etc.)
