Develop a skilled staff through personal and professional development
The Division is committed to providing ongoing opportunities for staff to enhance their skills through:
One of the major training-based initiatives during the year was the Staff Skills Audit. The audit, undertaken at the commencement of the year was based on a survey undertaken at the University of Western Sydney. Training in the later part of the year was based on the outcomes of this survey. The survey identified a range of areas where staff felt they needed to develop or enhance their skills, including:

The Division looks upon consultancies and support services as opportunities for staff to demonstrate their skills as well as to develop additional skills and expertise.
Debbie Orr was an invited presenter at CAVAL's Reference Interest Group Annual Seminar in Melbourne. Debbie was also invited to undertake a consultancy assessing the information literacy program at the University of Wollongong Library.
Bruce Hart continued to provide technical support to Australian Virtua sites, and Vicki Roberts, Kate Houston and Kerrie-Anne Malcolm provided library services to J M Rendel CSIRO Laboratory.
