ProQuest databases - Importing references using Direct Export

Saving your references:

1. Mark the references you wish to save,

2. Click on Marked List on the top navigation menu.

3. Click on Export Citations into EndNote, ProCite, RefWorks or Reference Manager.

Screen capture of Marked List options

4. You have a number of options in which to download your records. Click on Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager.

This option automatically opens EndNote on your computer. Once you click on the link, EndNote will open and the "Select a Reference Library" window appears. Select the library into which you want to import the selected references. The references are then downloaded into your library automatically. Only those items which have been directly imported into EndNote will show.

Please note: Due to the structure of certain database records, information may occasionally be imported into incorrect fields within your Endnote library. These need to be edited manually.

Known Problems:

  1. Inconsistant layout of author names. Some names are imported " first name|space last|name "; whereas others are imported " last name|space|first name ". Some author names are in capitals. Editing of these entries may be necessary.
  2. The "year" field is not filled. The information on the year of publication tends to transfer across into the "date" field
  3. Magazine articles import as the reference type "Journal Article"
