Why bother managing information management?

Audio transcript

"I'll file some things on computer and never come back and look at them because they're hidden in a little folder or I'll put them in the filing cabinet and I'll forget that they are there. I'm just hopeless. I think I can get by with a search, if I need to and when I need to I can search and I can find information, but managing it is a completely different thing and really frustrating, and I'm sure I lose a whole lot as a result. In terms of working through the material, when I've got it and when I know what I've got I work through it okay, but there's an awful lot that I think I miss because I just lose the track that I found it. Which is very frustrating - there's got to be a system somewhere to help me. Probably Endnote is the trick but I'm too scared to go near it. This is not fear, this is just time."
