Positioning the literature review
Aim to:
- Understand and clarify the relationships between your research and the discipline/s.
- Place and justify your research within the discipline/s.
- Understand the existing literature and how it relates /supports/contradicts your topic.
Research can draw on the knowledge, culture, methodology and theories of a number of disciplines - the amount of interdisciplinary research has increased in recent years and all interdisciplinary ideas need to be discussed with your supervisor(s).
