Library Penalties - AIC Campus Libraries

Late returns will incur penalty points as follows:

Loan Type	Number of Points
Reserve Collection	200  points per hour per item
VALTape Overnight loans	200 points per day per item
3 day loan	200 points per day per item
7 day and 2 week loans	100 points per day per item

You are ineligible to borrow material when:

• standard 14 day loans are three days overdue
• reserve room loans are one hour overdue
• 3 and 7 day loan items are two days overdue
• accrued penalty points have reached 2000

Borrowing privileges will be reinstated when:

• items late by more than the grace period have been returned or renewed.
• a reinstatement charge [$20] has been paid if your penalty points exceed 2000.

Long overdue or lost library items

The library may declare an item lost if the item is 30 days overdue. Lost or damaged items must be paid for at a replacement cost of $91.30 plus a $19.25 processing charge. In lieu of the replacement charge, the library will accept an exact copy of the item or a later edition. The student is liable for the processing charge even if the item is returned or replaced. A reinstatement charge of $20.00 may also apply.
