Borrowing Information
@CQU Library
Upon presentation of their ID card each enrolled student in good standing may borrow the following:
Undergraduate and Postgraduate students are entitled to an unlimited number
of loans which can be made up of items from the Monograph, Music, Curriculum
Material and Serial Collections.
Postgraduate students may borrow up to 5 term loans with the approval of the
relevant Faculty Liaison Librarian. These items are returnable at the end
of the current term or within seven days, if recalled by the library.
Items issued to Undergraduate students are due for return or renewal 2 weeks from the date of issue and items issued to Postgraduate students are due for return or renewal 3 weeks from the date of issue unless a shorter period for a particular item has been determined by the Director, Division of Library Services (DLS) or their representative. Loans can be renewed unless the item is requested by another borrower or you are blocked from borrowing. Reserve and overnight loans cannot be renewed. Books or other items in the Reference Collection are not available for loan.
Any item on loan to a student may be recalled when the necessity arises in the judgement of the Director, DLS or their representative. Failure to comply with a request to return an item by a specified date will result in a $20.00 charge being posted to the student account in the University Finance system. A $20.00 charge will be added every three days the item remains overdue up to a limit of $80.00. At this time the borrower will be invoiced for the standard replacement cost and a processing fee. These charges are non-refundable and students will be ineligible to borrow until all charges are paid. The library endeavours to send a notice if an item is overdue but has no obligation to do so. All notices and communications from the library will be forwarded to the official university email address. The responsibility for checking email and returning or renewing material by the due date rests with the borrower. Students are advised not to return material via a third person, as the borrower is liable for the safe return of the material. Students should not re-lend borrowed material to another person. Penalty points accrue on overdue items at the rate of:
A student may become ineligible (i.e. denied borrowing privileges) if:
The library may declare an item lost if the item is 42 days overdue. Lost or damaged items must be paid for at a set replacement cost plus an $11.00 processing fee. In lieu of the replacement cost, the library will accept an exact copy of the item or a later edition. The student is liable for the processing fee even if the item is returned or replaced. A reinstatement charge may also apply.
Students who lose their student identification card or have library material stolen should notify the library immediately.
Any person detected at the security gate with library material which is defaced or has not been loaned in accordance with the library's borrowing procedures is liable for disciplinary action.
