Rockhampton Campus Library

 

The Rockhampton Library is situated in the Bruce Hiskins Building - and was officially opened in September 1978.
The building was designed by Stephen Trotter of Fulton Collin Boys Gilmour Trotter & Partners Architects.
The unique surrounding sculpture of the building was created by Kevin Brereton. The design imperatives for the sculpture were formed from several sources - forms of solidified fluids such as basalt intrusions; elements borrowed from earlier precedents such as the bell curve and rock carvings; organic forms such as tree roots; and the exploitation of infinite surfaces such as Islamic tile work.
